Ready To Move

Case studies

Three real moves.

Anonymised by default to respect customer privacy, but the details (route, size, hours, gotchas) are real. From the books in 2026.

Loading a sofa from a Byron hinterland home

Local · 3-bedroom · Byron hinterland

Byron hinterland 3-bedroom: tight driveway, on-time settlement

Client
A Byron hinterland family moving to Bangalow
Route
Byron Bay (hinterland) to Bangalow
Size
3-bedroom home, 1 garage, 1 piano
Duration
1 day, 7 hours crew time

Challenge

Long single-lane driveway, no truck access at the house. Settlement was 2pm same day on the new place. Family had a baby grand piano that needed careful handling.

Approach

  1. 01Walked the access two days before. Confirmed our smaller Isuzu could turn at the gate but not at the house. Planned a shuttle: load the smaller truck at the house, transfer to the larger truck at the gate.
  2. 02De-legged the baby grand the night before, blanket-wrapped, dolly-loaded. Carried the body cushioned-side up across the gravel.
  3. 03Started 7am at the old house. Loaded out by 12, drove and unloaded Bangalow by 4. Beat settlement by an hour even with the shuttle.

Outcome

Family was in the new house by 4pm. Piano survived, no damage to anything. Tuner came two weeks later and said the piano had handled the move better than most.

Loaded truck interior, packed and ready for a long-haul interstate run

Interstate · 4-bedroom · Tweed → Melbourne

Tweed Heads to Melbourne: 1700 km, settlement on a Friday

Client
A retired Tweed Heads couple relocating to Melbourne
Route
Tweed Heads to inner-east Melbourne
Size
4-bedroom home with 30 years of furniture
Duration
3 days, dedicated truck

Challenge

1,700 km drive. Settlement on a Friday with a hard 3pm key handover in Melbourne. Couple was flying down separately and needed everything in place when they arrived. Several heavy antiques and an upright piano.

Approach

  1. 01Loaded Wednesday morning. Two crew, one full Isuzu. Antiques crated, piano de-legged and dolly-loaded.
  2. 02Wednesday night drive to Coffs, Thursday push through to Albury, Friday morning into Melbourne. Both drivers swapping rest cycles.
  3. 03On the ground in Melbourne by 1pm Friday, unloading by 1:30, fully unloaded and beds rebuilt by 5pm. Couple landed at 6pm and walked into a finished home.

Outcome

Zero breakages over 1,700 km. Couple sent a 5-star Google review and has since recommended us to two of their Melbourne neighbours.

Inside a Ready To Move truck packed for a backload

Backloading · 1-bedroom · Byron → Brisbane

Byron to Brisbane backload: 1-bedroom, $1,400 instead of $2,400

Client
A Byron renter moving for a new job in Brisbane
Route
Byron Bay to Newstead, Brisbane
Size
1-bedroom apartment, no piano, no specialty items
Duration
Pickup day 1, delivery day 3, flexible window

Challenge

Tight budget. Job started in Brisbane on the 28th, but the renter could be in temporary accommodation for up to a week. Wanted real Northern Rivers crew, not a national broker.

Approach

  1. 01Quoted backload at $1,400. Dedicated would have been $2,400 to $2,800.
  2. 02Booked a window: pickup between the 22nd and 25th, delivery between the 25th and 28th. Confirmed firm dates 48 hours out.
  3. 03Loaded Byron Tuesday afternoon as part of a return run from a bigger job. Stored in our depot one night. Delivered Brisbane Thursday morning before the new job started.

Outcome

Renter saved $1,000 versus a dedicated truck. Same crew handled it pickup to drop-off. Nothing damaged, nothing lost. Wrote the third 5-star review of our backloading service this year.

Got an unusual move? We probably love it.

Awkward access, specialty items, hard deadlines. The jobs other operators turn down are the ones we ask for first.
